This book presents the collections of contemporary decorative arts and design, acquired by the Mandet de Riom museum since 1990.
Museum of France, the museum Mandet is home in its two mansions of the 18^th century, about 6000 pieces, paintings, sculptures and works of art from antiquity to the 19^th century. These rich collections of decorative arts and especially his 17^th- and 18^th-century civil goldsmith's and silversmith's have set directions.
They were the starting point for the creation of an original set of goldsmiths, ceramics and contemporary glassware, from 1950 to the present day.
Constantly enriched, it now has a hundred pieces designed by goldsmiths, ceramists or designers.
There are artists of international renown, representing the major artistic trends of design and decorative arts: Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi, Richard Meier, Jean Nouvel, Gael Aulenti, Goudji, Olivier Gagnere, Garouste and Bonetti, but also others public, such as David Huycke (Belgium), Henriette and Martin Tomasi (Germany), Bodil Manz (Denmark), Victoria Kershaw (England) Mike Sharpe (Canada), Hiroshi Suzuki (Japan), Sungho Sho (Korea) who may be tomorrow's artists.
Presented in new spaces, this collection makes the Mandet Museum a unique exhibition space, combining creation, modernity, history and heritage.
