In the 14^th century, the château of Germolles was one of the residences of Philip the Bold and Margaret of Flanders, first Duke and Duchess of Burgundy of the Valois dynasty. Today, it is the best preserved of any of the ducal residences. Its architecture and décor, as well as its setting, testify to the grandeur of the court of Burgundy at the close of the Middle Ages, comprising subtle bucolic poetry.
